Workshop on Campus Wi-Fi & eduroam (July 2024)

The workshop equipped campus teams to deploy eduroam-enabled Wi-Fi with confidence. It covered the foundations of education roaming, campus identity management (LDAP & GUI), controller/AP configuration, wireless security, eduroam tools, governance, and monitoring. The content was tailored to local campus networks so participants could apply practices directly, while enabling technologies such as eduID and federated identity management for end users.

Participants were also given hands-on exposure to configuration tasks, enabling them to translate theory into practice. The sessions encouraged knowledge sharing among campuses, fostering collaboration and peer-to-peer learning. By the end of the workshop, teams were better prepared to design, deploy, and maintain a secure, scalable eduroam infrastructure.

Asi@Connect — Network Security Workshop (May 2024)

This workshop explored essential concepts, protocols, policies, and methods for safeguarding data and assets, strengthening networks, and detecting/handling incidents. It was structured to combine theoretical learning with practical demonstrations, ensuring participants could apply the knowledge directly. Real-world case studies were shared to illustrate common threats and effective defense strategies.

The trainers guided participants through hands-on labs, where they practiced identifying vulnerabilities and mitigating risks. Interactive discussions encouraged participants to reflect on their own campus security policies and procedures. The workshop also emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring and proactive threat detection. By the end, participants had a clear roadmap for enhancing the resilience of their institutional networks.

AIDE — AI for Innovative Design & Education (March 2024)

The AIDE workshops, conducted under the auspices of the UNESCO Chair at Asia Pacific University (APU) of Malaysia, were designed to significantly enhance the pedagogical and research capabilities of educators through the integration of Generative AI (Gen-AI) tools. Each workshop was carried out over four days, with each day focusing on carefully structured modules.

The sessions provided educators with both theoretical understanding and practical demonstrations of how Gen-AI could be responsibly applied in teaching and research. Participants explored strategies for embedding Gen-AI into lesson design, assessment methods, and collaborative learning activities.
